We visited South Boulevard Beach for the first time. It's a great, smaller beach with lots of shade in the afternoon. Go to kidwinks' facebook page to see pics.

I LOVE Evanston beaches! They are VERY well maintained, easy to find parking, and the lifeguards/staff are always friendly and helpful!

We went to the Dempster St. beach today and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The beach was clean and uncrowded. There is no concession stand at this beach, and the restrooms are on the other side of the beach entrance, but neither was a big issue for us. I really do not like to pay to go to the beach. We had to pay $28 for the 4 of us to enter the beach. We reached the beach entrance just as the beach was offically opening; if we had got there just 5 minutes earlier, we would not have had to pay an admission. Lesson learned! There was a little bit of shade on the beach itself, in one spot near the fencing on the far side of the beach. We could've easily enjoyed our picnic lunch in the shady park near the beach, but we had a beach umbrella to give us some respite from the hot sun.
