Fair Oaks Farms is a real place, a family owned, heartland dairy located in Northwest Indiana just outside of Chicago. In fact, we’re one of the largest dairies in the country.
Adventure Center The Fair Oaks Adventure Center is not your ordinary information center. Located on an operating dairy farm, it offers exhibits that explain how the dairy industry protects the environment, cares for the cows, and ensures the highest quality milk possible.
You can tour the dairy farm and see the milking process first hand.
The Birthing Barn is a unique facility designed to showcase the miraculous creation of life. About 80 calves are born at Fair Oaks Farms everyday. Witness one of these real and extraordinary events at the Birthing Barn.
See a hilarious theatrical presentation (which, surpassing simple 3D, is taken to the fourth dimension) which explains just how the breakfast, lunch and dinner of champions is transformed from a scientific recipe of Total Mixed Rations (TMR) through a cow’s four stomachs.
From racing our skeleton crew of Gen-Y Hipsters who scale new heights, to testing your quick draw of the milking claw, or whiling away your stay by crawling through the swiss cheese of young life, the Dairy Fun Room is one more extraordinary wonder of the Dairy Adventure.
Mooville Get ready to play ‘til the cows come home. Several fun & challenging activities are waiting to be explored in this outdoor area. Open seasonally, Mooville is included in the admission to the Dairy Adventure Center.
Cheese Plant & Café
The Cheese Factory is, indeed, making cheese right before your eyes. Enjoy a delicious bite to eat at the cafe.
Wow! This is an amazing dairy farm! We loved rock climbing and jumping on the bouncy pillow in Mooville! We saw the tour and even the birth of a calf!! We came home happily with fresh made Cheddar Cheese and stuffed cows. I would totally come back!
Wow! The dairy tour was a bit too long for the smaller kids, but it really was interesting & my kids learned a lot. My boys were grossed out but highly interested in the live birth room. Getting the fresh grilled cheese sandwich after the tour was fantastic! I cant wait to go back for Cow-tober fest this fall.
It's about a 1-1/2 - 2 hour drive, depending where you are in the suburbs. It is so nice! My entire family loved our day at Fair Oaks Farm. It's a dairy farm where you can learn the entire dairy process from the birthing room, milking, converting cow poop to energy, and cheese making. There are outdoor activities for kids of all ages. We learned alot, had great grilled cheese sandwiches & ice cream, we played, and had a wonderful day. It's a great day away in the country!!
