Thirteen-acre savanna and nature center. People of all ages will enjoy this natural oasis full of native wildflowers, grasses, oak trees, a three-acre pond and trails. Some of the plants and animals that frequent the pond or have been sighted in the savanna include Great Blue Herons, Coyotes, Flying Squirrels, Northern Water Snakes, Red Foxes and Cooper’s Hawks. Check website for nature center hours of operation.
This is a FANTASTIC place to take your kiddos for the afternoon and they have awesome programs through the Skokie Park District as well. Very affordable, too - campfires, nature walks and talks, camps in the summer. We love Emily Oaks!
This a a wonderful little nature area. Big enough to enjoy nature and not too big -wont scare the little ones. They have nice programs. A playground if they still have steam after their walk/hike.
My daughter loves the Nature class they offer. They do a great job of keeping the kids entertained while teaching them.
They also have a nice little pond and nature trail you can walk around.
Some great programs are also offered by the Skokie Park District here, such as campfires w smores, ice skating, conoeing, etc...
I agree with Cyndy--this is a hidden gem! Great nature trails, kids can walk up to the pond and see the fish, frogs, etc. They have an indoor nature center and lots of wonderful programs for kids. Playground area too!
