Undoubtedly one of the Pier's BIGGEST attractions is the 440-seat Navy Pier IMAX Theatre. Featuring Chicago's largest flat movie screen-a soaring six-story, 60 x 80-foot screen designed to enhance both 2D and 3D films.
Took the kids this summer to Navy Pier and experienced for the first time, the IMAX experience. It was great kids loved the move, (coral reef I think), but since we were already at Navy Pier for the day we have already planned to spend a lot of money. With no discounts or deals being offered, it cost $70 for the tickets alone. (2adults@$15, 3kids@13) not to mention what we spent at the concessions. But it was worth it kids had a great time and all fell asleep on the car ride home. That made it all worth it!!
We saw Born to be Wild and adults and kids loved it. We got a great deal from a Groupon-type website ($20 for 2 tickets, 2 drinks and a tub of popcorn), but otherwise this would've been a pricey outing. The theater is on the smaller side, which I like, and was nowhere near full for this movie which had been playing for several months already. Concession stand was slow, with only one person working. Buying your concessions at the box office is cheaper than buying them at the concession stand, so keep that in mind.
