The company's founder, Gus Kerasotes, opened a storefront nickelodeon in Springfield, Illinois in 1909. He enjoyed this new technology and Kerasotes Theatres was born.   Kerasotes Theatres, now under the management of the third generation of the family, has 933 screens in 94 theatres.

I went to the Bolingbrook location recently, and they are no longer Kerasotes. They do honor the $5 movie club anymore at this location, however if you turn in your $5 movie card to them, they will give you a free popcorn. Their prices have increased also. I like the theater & always went there when it was a Kerasotes, but I don't know if I will continue to go there now that they are Regal Cinemas.

The old Kerasotes management was family friendly and became one of my favorite theatre picks after I had our son. Now that management has changed, I can't get anyone to respond to an email about if Matinee Movie Magic (special early shows for parents with children 2 and under on Tuesdays)still exists. And the new Kerasotes Icon on Roosevelt is by far the most unfamily friendly theatre I know of. They discourage and alientate people with young children from attending their theatre by not offering a child admission and charging infants 2 and under full adult admission which is unheard of and absurd. When I spoke to a representative via email and on the phone they were less than hospitable about my questions and concerns. And I've read several reviews online from other parents and caregivers complaining about how rude the staff was to little people. Parent please don't support this location until they amend some of their theater policies and are more accomodating to families. We have strength in numbers.

We go to the theatre in Niles. How can you beat a movie for $5. Although I see that the Pickwick has movies for $5 during the week too. Just call ahead to your local theatre to see who has the deals near you.

Five Bucks is pretty cheap for a movie nowadays. The Niles location is the best for us. We enjoy the matinee when it is not as crowded.

I like the $5 movies especially for the younger ones who sometime don't make it through the movie. Don't forget when you go to get the free refills.

The $5 is great you can go see a movie for just $5 and with free refills on popcorn you can't beat that. Go to there website to join the $5 club.

I LOVE the $5 club! You can join free online and get 1 card per person in your family, but movies cost just $5 per person. (not the first week and sometimes not the second week but if you are patient to wait it's great) Plus you can sign up for their weekly emails to tell you which movies are for $5 that week and the times, etc. We go to Village Crossing and The Glen. The Glen is much nicer, but Village Crossing is generally clean as well.

I like the Kerasote Showplace 14 (Galewood Crossings) at Central and Grand Ave. in Chicago. Completely new and tucked away in what looks like an industrial corridor, I can't help but give a good review for nice, new theaters that are well-maintained. Granted, we went in the daytime on a weekday, but I can imagine Friday night and weekend could be kind of crowded and rowdy.

We go to the Bolingbrook location and we love it. We usually go to the matinee, which is all shows before 6pm and you get free refills on any size popcorn and pop!

We usually go to the Niles location, where it's generally not crowded and it's connected to Golf Mill Mall. We also visit The Glen and Village Crossing. Free refills on popcorn and drinks - love it!
