Lincoln Park Zoo is one of the few free zoos in the country. Hear the lions roar, watch gorillas learn on a computer, visit a tropical rainforest, watch the polar bear swim and so much more, all with the beautiful Chicago skyline as a backdrop.
Street parking is hard to find. There is a parking lot. Parking fees are collected at the exit of the lot.

We love going to this zoo because admission is free and it has a very family-friendly environment. Although admission is free, parking is $17 in the zoo's lot. I especially like this zoo because it is not too big or overwhelming for younger children. They also have a special Children's Zoo area as well that my kids love.
I love this zoo! So much to love. For me I like that it is smaller than Brookfield (which is awesome too). If you have smaller kids you can see everything before they are too worn out! If you don't have a whole day for the zoo you can just pop in and see it all. Also, it's free, what's not to like there. Historic, great location and check out the Lincoln Park Botanical Garden while you are there.
Absolutely love this place! The best zoo for FREE - my kids can spend days here and can't wait to come back. The zoo always has events going on as well throughout the year with loads of fun events for free.
What i like most about this zoo is of course that it is free. it is kind of small to me, but very nice. the parking is the hardest part of the whole thing. it is sometimes hard to find a spot. i like that it is in chicago so there are plenty of food places nearby to eat at. my four kids all had a fun time and i didnt have to worry about paying for all of us to get it which is great when you have a big family
Beautiful zoo! Very easy to walk around and not very much space between animals. I loved the new boardwalk and the kids did too. The parking is expensive. Your website is needs to update the amount. 4 hours was $30.00. It wasn't too bad considering there is no entrance fee to the zoo.
Lincoln Park Zoo is a family favorite. It is pleasant and familiar and comfortable to visit. There is plenty to see, but it is not too big. It is easy to get food, rest, etc. We love the carousel. There are not many of those around anymore. Parking, though, can be a drag and has gotten much more expensive. That might limit our visits this year.
This is a wonderful zoo! It's great for a whole day outing, with plenty animals to see, shops to visit and it even has places to eat. It's great that it's free ! I went to the Zoolights Festival and loved it as well! The membership is well worth the money. =]
This is a great small zoo for a quick outdoor adventure. My boys love to run around and check out the animals. The newer indoor exhibits are great. There are few bathrooms - so plan ahead. Parking is expensive, but we have a membership and it is included. The membership is worth it for the parking alone!
Love this zoo. There are a variety of animals, they are up close, unlike other zoos where the animals are so far you can barely see them. The exhibits are close together so there is not as much walking as other zoos. A few cafes to choose from to eat at. And best of all FREE admission. The only thing I do not like is the parking. You are lucky to find some free street parking otherwise its $25+ to park in the lot. The free admission is worth the parking cost though.
Although, I love going to the zoo with my childrens this Zoo is in need for some more activities for the family. There are not a lot of animals or places for the families to eat. It's a very niece zoo and the admission is FREE, but the parking is horrible. If you can, take the bus.
One of Chicago's best places to visit. An all time family favorite and it's free! Parking can get a little much but you can often find street parking (during the week) if you don't mind walking a bit.
