Just a little northeast of the softball fields at Melas Park, you will find a water retention pond -- a huge, bowl-shaped area that is used to capture excess water when it rains too much. This area is PERFECT for sledding in the winter.

Great place to go sledding. Our 4 year old loved it! We want to go back... we need more snow! In the summertime, Melas holds the Fourth of July festival/ fireworks and has a cute little park and track which is fun in the summer, too.

We learned about this sledding hill from our neighbors, and are so glad we did! Many of the area sledding hills make me very nervous because they're so crowded that kids get run down by other sledders. But not here! The area is so large that there's room for everyone to spread out and find their own place. Even though it's called a "pond", there's no water on the bottom, so don't worry about that! Our girls can't wait to go back here.
