Great inexpensive outing for the family. Fun to take the train downtown and explore the park. Bring lunch and have a picnic. The kids loved to splash in the fountain.
Millennium Park is a great place to take kids year-round, but especially in the summer. All of the great displays, attractions, and performances will entertain your children very much. They can romp in the water, watch/listen to the performers, or enjoy the sculptures. We like to ride the train downtown and bring a lunch to the park. It makes for a fun and inexpensive summer afternoon.
our whole family loved going here. millenium park is a great time. i recommend packing a lunch, but even if you dont there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance. my kids loved the fountains, me and my husband loved all the great pictures we got.
We love our Millenium Park adventures! Pack a lunch and just enjoy the day! The kids concerts & crafts during the summer, listening to whatever band is practicing, the water feature and of course the Bean! love it all!
Millennium Park is great for those who live in the city. There are always lots of things going on for big and small. Fountains are favorites in summer. Sculptures to see, stories to hear, plus in the heart of the city!
this is agreat outdoor place to go. The best of all ITS FREE. I went this summer when it was super hot outside, so my son had a blast with splashing himselft with the water fountain. Their a lot of free activities things to do. I strongly recommend the park.
Great place to take the kids. Easy to park in local garages, SO many sights to see and activities for kids. We went to the Target family tent this summer and had a blast. Highly recommended for families.
We just moved to the local area, so still feel like tourists a bit when we go downtown. We love millennium park, friends and family who have visited us have loved it, too. The Bean is fun for picture taking, the kids love to splash in Crown Fountain, the adults like to chill at the outdoor restaurant there, and it's a nice walk all around. Last time we parked on the street right in front of Buckingham Fountain ($7.50/3 hrs A steal!) and walked. The Bridge to the Jay Pritzker Pavillion is neat, and on the way back we saw the front of the Art Institute and the architecture there. All in all, can be a pretty inexpensive outing (garage parking is pretty high, though) but still lots of fun!
We have lived in Chicago since we were children and we are so happy that Mayor Dailey has added this wonderful park to the city of Chicago. It is a wonderful place to stop and relax and "people watch." I love the art, music etc...I have brought my daughter there throughout the year and there are always wonderful activities all year round such as ice skating, listening to music, picnicing etc...
Never imagined that Millenium park would be soo neat. I thought A Big Bean that you look into and water to run in, what could be so special.. I WAS WRONGE! How cool the bean is to see, take pics around and just let the kids enjoy. and what neat sculptures to look at and enjoy and the Best for the Kids was the water walls and water to play in.. Wow! did they enjoy every minute of their visit and so did we :) A MUST VISIT IN THE CITY!!!!!

While in the city, Millennium park is a good place to let the kids run around in the spraying water and see the unique sculptures. Throughout the summer they have scheduled activities for the kids and some of the museums even offer little day camps with fun projects. I wish there were a little more grassy areas to but down a blanket and have a picnic while watching the kids run through the water. At times it could be really crowded and definitely hard to keep an eye on the kids. Parking is very expensive. I recommend you take public transportation.
Huge fan of Millenium Park. My daughter & I especially love going on Sundays during the summer because it is considered family day. They have a ton of stuff for kids to do as well as many mini-performances by all types of different entertainers (singers/bands, storybook tellers, dancers, etc). My daughter also really loves the water area. We pack a lunch, hop the train & spend the day @ Millenium Park. They also have a restaurant right there (not sure of the name) with a huge patio featuring a full menu, full bar & even bean bag toss tournaments. The food is not excellent but it's not bad either. Ate there once. But most times we just pack our own picnic lunch. We save our money for treats.
