Visitors can also take advantage of thousands of additional parking spaces located west of Lake Shore Drive near Navy Pier. The free Navy Pier trolley provides convenient transportation to and from remote lots.
Lots of fun things for kids to do! I highly recommend not driving here---parking is extremely expensive. If you go during the summer, take the free shuttle from the commuter train stations to Navy Pier.
Lots of fun for the whole family. Parking is a bit expensive, but when you pack the car full of kids like we do, it balances out. Good food and fun attractions all year round.
Navy Pier is one of the places in Chicago that you can take your kids to year-round because there is always something fun and exciting to do. I personally enjoy just walking along the pier and taking in the lake, people, and sites. However, my kids enjoy the children's museum, ferris wheel, and different shops/vendors. The fireworks at night are also a special treat during the summer. During the winter, they really pull out all the stops with the winter wonderland.
With parking, eating, shopping, admission/tickets, etc, visiting Navy Pier for a day can end up being quite a costly family outing. However, it is a one-stop shop in terms of the variety of activities you can enjoy in one place. And everyone can find something to do no matter their age or interest.
i love navy pier. there are all kinds of things to do there from boat rides to fireworks to haunted house, the kids museum, and the movie theatre, ferris wheel, etc. there is an unbelievable amount of things to do. it is truely a great place to go and have a good time. very family friendly
We recently went prior to school starting for one last night of fun at Navy Pier. We went on a Thursday night when the Children's Museum is open 5-8pm for free. We had a great time at the Amazing Maze, going on the Ferris Wheel, Carousel and other rides. The best part of our evening was going on the SeaDog Speedboat. It was a blast! Lots of speed and loud music and a great time had by all.
I love Navy Pier! There are always fun events happening like Winter Wonderfest, fireworks, exhibitions,etc..
There is plenty of things to do like go on a boat tour, go to the build-a-bear workshop, eat, etc..
Love this establishment!!
Was at Winter Wonderland at Navy Pier this past holiday and my 18 month old loved it. She was too small and it was not worth the $$ to buy the wristband but she just loved looking around at all the Christmas Trees and Lights.

Ended up at Navy Pier to the childrens museum after waiting 1 1/2hours to SHEDD in the cold. You would think that they had a much better way to get people in there. The line was still long with them saying an hour or 2 until we could get in, which made it almost 2:00pm, and they closed at 5:00. Anyways, Kids Loved Navy Pier..They have some great free entertainment and the childrens museum was a hit! A little pricey other places, but it's chicago! The food was good (at Harry Carrys). Kids a little young for the IMAX (5 and 3) and got scared.
We were just out at Navy pier for our annual cousins day with kids aged from 3 to 17, and it was fun for all! Between the free pirate shows, the water taxi, and rides we all had a blast! Something for everyone!
Navy Pier is always so fun for my kids - but it's always so tough on the wallet! You are enticed by sweets and treats throughout the length of the pier. The best thing that we did was discover the "water taxi" from Navy Pier. It's $4 adult/$2 kid to go to Michigan Avenue or the Shedd Aquarium. We got to take an affordable, fun boat ride and not pay the high prices of the other boats!
