Centre East's Youtheatre Program offers curriculum-based productions that support the Illinois State Goals for Learning in the Fine Arts, Language Arts, and Social Studies for grades K through 12. Since 1980, more than one million school children have experienced live theater, music and dance through the Youtheatre Program. Over 200 schools from the Chicago Metropolitan area participate each year.

The children have the opportunity to experience live theatre that promotes classic and modern literature, and to be exposed to a variety of genres including dance, folk, puppetry and music. All programs are performed during the school day and are approximately one hour long. Study Guides are available for most shows.

We went back last week to see "Junie B. Jones". My daughter loved it and it was well-played. The actors were great and very entertaining.

We were disappointed with this theater recently. We had seen the well-publicized ad for 'The Little Engline That Could' and noticed that it had 2 showings scheduled per day. We made a space in our calendar and counted down the days until the show. We excitedly drove to the theater after preschool only to find the theater closed and no one around. Apparently, they had decided to cancel the 2nd showing of the play due to poor ticket sales. They did not make an effort to get the word out to the public and we thought that was wrong to inconvenience us like that.

I just discovered this theatre going to see "Max and Ruby". It was a wonderful show. It seemed like there are no bad seats in the theatre as nothing is obstructed and it is nicely set up. There is no souvenir section though.

We have seen a number of events here for children. They are well put together and the seating is laid out that most seats are good for the kids. We have been moved to better seats when it has not been sold out. That was a plesant surprise.
