Our Mission is to create a positive relationship between people and nature through collaborations, education, research and collections, exhibits and public forums that fosters urban connections to our region’s nature and science.
This was our first trip to this museum and it's a great place to let your little ones run around and explore nature! It wasn't to crowded and there was a lot to see and touch. We love the room full of butterflies...it was really cool to see all the different types, colors and sizes of butterflies, beautiful! It was $15 for both my son and myself to enter the museum.
Your little ones will love the Butterfly Haven - an enormous indoor walk-in terrarium where butterflies can land on them. And most adults will enjoy it too.
We have been there several times - using the passes from the Public Library. My kids love it and find neat things to explore. They love the butterflies as well.
This museum is tucked away across from the LP zoo.. You can check out passes from your Chicago library as well!! We have gone several times. They had/have? a butterfly display that was unbelievably cool. my two year old loved it!! We have gone several times over..there is a little water area... Admission is steep considering you only can spend maybe 1 hour in there and then run out of stuff to do... But like i said free library pass!!
This is a lovely museum right across the from the Lincoln Park Zoo. They have a great butterfly room and a wonderful indoor play area for kids (esp under 5). In the winter, it is a great place to go to feel like you are getting some nature in your life. Also we went during the Christmas season and this is where my daughter was able ot meet Santa which was GREAT for me!!! They also are hosting the Chicago International fim festival next week wiht some great nature based films.
We are members here and plan to renew again next year. It's an easy afternoon with plenty of stuff for my 3 year old and 1.5 year old to do. And since it's never too crowded I can let them run free from the stroller. They love the treehouse the best!
Love this museum - it is not usually really crowded and the exhibits are fun for all my kids (10,7,2). The butterfly garden is awesome - the kids were really fascinated with all the beautiful butterflies.
