Take the kids on a train ride. Stop at the Park Ridge Station. What can you do? Here is a sampling of the businesses within a short walk of the Park Ridge Metra Train Station (Park Ridge - Metra Rail Union Pacific Northwest – Chicago to Harvard).
Activities
Stop in at the Park Ridge Public Library Children's Department. There is always something fun going in the library. Read a book, do a puzzle, listen to stories on CD. My favorite recorded stories are Hank the Cowdog CDs. They are absolutely hilarious! My boys think so too. Moms and little girls can both get their nails done at Jackie’s Nails*. Stop in for a movie at the Pickwick Theater. Saturday mornings, during the summer, you can visit the Park Ridge Farmer’s Market*.
Food
When you are getting hungry there are plenty of places to choose from such as Tasty Pup, Jason’s Deli, don’t forget kid’s eat free on Mondays, and Maki Sushi, they have a kid’s menu that adds a bit of variety to the usual kid’s fare.
Sweet Tooth
I always like something sweet at the end of a meal or during the day, or at night or…. Hankering for chocolate? Try Fannie May* or Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory to feed your sugar craving. In the mood for fresh baked goodies? Try Baked by Betsy. During the summer you can stop in at Lisa’s Italian Ice.
Shopping
Mom, if you are looking for a new pair of shoes or a new outfit check out New Prospects. 2 Sisters* has great accessories including handbags, shoes and some clothing. If you are looking for the newest Webkinz, stop in Hill’s Halmark*.
If you visit any of the businesses please let them know you found them on Kidwinks.com. I hope that you and your kids enjoy this outing. Please share your experiences with other parents.

My kids always love a ride on the metra...another good stop is DesPlaines. the Choo Choo restaurant is close by and so is the library, which is really nice
My daughter loves riding the train. And did you know that kids ride the metra for free. At least during the week they do. Park Ridge has a great downtown area with plenty of food and shopping. Awesome historic Pickwick Theatre and Restaurant are just a couple of the awesome place to go.
