Ballet Chicago's mission is to develop future career classical dancers for Chicago and the dance world at large through the study and performance of the aesthetic and repertory of George Balanchine, the 20th century's most influential and widely performed choreographer.
Summer Program:
The School of Ballet Chicago conducts a five week Summer Course and a two week Advanced Intensive designed to give students a comprehensive ballet training experience. The ballet technique taught at the School is Balanchine-based and focuses on the purity, energy and articulation that is the hallmark of Balanchine trained dancers.
To be eligible for Ballet Chicago's Summer Programs, students must be 11 years or older and must demonstrate a technical development appropriate to their age level. Students are evaluated throughout the summer course and may be selected to attend the School of Ballet Chicago's annual program and may be asked to join the Ballet Chicago Studio Company, the School's pre-professional ballet company.
We are also offering Ballerina Dream Summer Camp for children ages 4-7 years old. They will take a ballet class, perform a dance, have fun with music, learn stories of great ballets, be inspired by ballet videos, and decorate a costume. No audition is required for the Ballerina Dream Summer Camp.
