We offer many services

Turkish Wet Stone Sauna and Russian Dry Cedar Sauna that’s been 2,700 years in the making; the two traditional methods of employing deep beneficial stone heat for Circulation, Detoxification, Relaxation and Rejuvenation.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After a courageous stint in one of our sweltering saunas. . .take the plunge! Brace yourself for the exhilaration of new-found circulation! The constantly filtered Arctic cold water is a modern urban interpretation of the age-old tradition of rollin’ in the snow in Finland or jumpin’ into a hole cut out of a frozen lake in Russia.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Professional massage therapists are on staff to offer the perfect conclusion to this very traditional, multi-cultural hot/cold experience.

One very important thing I forgot to mention - the MULTICULTURAL value of the place. What's so American and so very Chicago about this Banya (and the same was true about the old Division Street Baths as well) is that individuals and families from ALL backgrounds are regulars. Which really isn't as surprising as it at first might seem - because Sweating traditions seem to exist in just about EVERY culture. So one thing I particularly love about Chicago Sweatlodge is that, while still being very Russian, it EXPLICITLY recognizes this MULTI-CULTURALISM OF SWEATING in the captioned photos (of many of the various kinds of sweat lodges and saunas found around the world) that it has decorated it's walls with. By doing that, Chicago Sweatlodge has made sweating there ALMOST as educational for the boys as it is relaxing for their dads.

It does seem strange that Kidwinks would categorize Chicago Sweat Lodge (or any other) banya or Sauna under headings like "Beauty" and "Day Spas", because going there is the quintessential outing for the boys only.

The Chicago Sweat Lodge has replaced the ancient and classic Division Street Russian and Turkish Bath (now sadly closed) as Chicago's family friendly Banya (i.e., Russian Bathhouse). Though perhaps some of the old tradition has been lost in the transition, I must admit that Chicago Sweat Lodge is cleaner than Division Street ever was. And many Americanized (and therefore shy) young sons and grandsons will appreciate the fact that, unlike in the old place, most of the showers are separate and enclosed. They also have great food and lots and lots of TVs for watching hockey football and soccer.
