Ellis is owned and operated by the Kendall County Forest Preserve. It is established to fill the beginner riding program needs in the Kendall and North Grundy and Western Will county areas.
Children can come to Ellis to learn and play with the horses. Day camp and birthday party programs provide games, crafts and educational activities as well as pony rides. Activities for group events can be tailored to the ages of the participants.
Day camp and birthday party programs at Ellis provide children the opportunity to learn all the basics of horse care including feeding, grooming, bathing and horse behavior. Fun activities include hands on horse handling games that teach safe, responsible care for horses. Children learn confidence around the horses by grooming, leading and feeding the animals. Your child will learn all about how horses interact with nature and compliment land stewardship. There will be pony rides, games, and crafts provided each day.
Availability of camp programs varies based on interest. Registration is limited to 12 children per camp
