We took the kids on a field trip for our homeschool group. We all had a great time. Very cute family owned orchard. We got a tour of the farm, took a hay ride through the orchard, met an adorable hound dog that, got some fantastic freshmade donuts and apple cider, learned about how apple cider was made & about honey bees then did a little shopping in their store. It was a wonderful day, the kids all had a blast! |

| Day Frog - 233 East Erie, Chicago
(Note from kidwinks: Day Frog closed May 1st and will reopen in a new location in the fall.)
Want a super clean indoor play place for infants to 6 year olds that is actually open 7 days a week and rarely ever closed for private parties? Try Day Frog located across from Northwestern Hospital in downtown Chicago. They pride themselves on 'hyer clean' and the owner, Rick, who is almost always present, is the enforcer of all things clean. They have a fabulous art/craft area within the dining lounge. Bring a lunch and put it in the fridge to heat up in their microwave later. Free coffee and tea for mom! Nice retro music playing in the background. A bubble machine mounted 20 feet up spews bubbles every hour to childrens delight. There is a train table, dress up clothing, reading station, kitchen center, 2 giant slides, a doll house, mini-pedal cars, a dedicated infant play area and lots of fun stuff! Your child can easily spend a whole day here. They also have a good selection of inexpensive drinks and snacks for purchase. Entry is $17 for the day for the 1st child and well worth it if you stay a while. Bring some reading material with you to relax while your child plays. They also offer in building validated parking at a very reduced rate. |

| There is a wonderful entertainer from Canada that does the library, school, etc.. circuit. He is performing at Des Plaines Library on 3/21/10 and we saw him last year at The Glen Hangar One. His name is Trent Arterberry and he does mime but a modern version of that and his show is very stimulating for children 2-10--very funny too! Adults like it, as well!

| We jsut attended a party here and thought that it was just right. They have a bounce room and a huge gym floor with all the equipment. The kids go tto go in the jump room, do an obstacle course, and jump into the pit full of foam off of a rope swing or from a slide. The staff was enthusiastic and there was cake at the end.

| Each year there is a National Family Fitness Day which encourages 'getting out there and moving.' The very best celebration of this day that we have been to is in Highland Park, Il at:
1801 Sunset Road, Sunset Road between Central Avenue and Park Avenue West

| Just wanted to clarify that this photo shoot at Kids Portraits by Picasso was with live bunnies and duckies. I saw this advertised at the Kohl's Children's Museum and made an appt. for my son. Kohl's was very receptive to my complaint when I told them of my bad experience; but unfortunately, I saw the same employees recently at Kohl's for a different event. I believe they must have gotten back into Kohl's because I noticed that they were going under a different name tjis time. |

Village Crossing Center

We had a horrible experience with this studio. The photographer and her assistant were so unprofessional, immature, and disrespectful that I would hate for anyone to go through what we did. They threw the animals at my son because they were pressed for time due to overbooking and he was obviously spooked by the live aspect. They referred to him as 'this kid' and 'hey kid' while I was present in the studio. They referred to me by my 1st name which was also inappropriate to be honest. And let me not forget that they mistreated the animals and threw them around the room, grabbed them without care, and then tossed them into the boxes they were keeping them in. I tried to complain to the owner but I was not able to get into contact with him/her. I also wanted to inform the animal farm as to how the animals were being cared for while at the studio, but I could not get the name. Please beware. |

| One of the best times we had last Halloween was a free event at Christian Heritage Academy. There were free hot dogs, chips, and drinks for those that were hungry, a free photo with a fall background, and a FANTASTIC trick or treat line with dressed up characters at each station. There were also raffle prizes, and a bounce house!!! We couldn't believe it!! 10 winks!!!

| This past year was our 1st time going to The Glen Park Center Halloween Bash. It was fun. There were crafts and games to play. In the gym they had several bounce houses. There was a costume contest (my son won his age group by the way!:)), baked goods, and meals for purchase.

| We just went to such a fun spring party at a local elementary school. It was a fundraiser and so well done. We spent $5 and my son (3.5 yrs) played 12 games and won a very cute redemption prize. We did not do it, but they had what I now understand are cake walks. Like musical chairs but if you land on the cake, you get to have it.

| https://www.myearthhour.org/home This is a neat and free thing you can do in your home for Planet Earth. Basically, all you do is commit to turning off your lights on March 27th at 8:30pm for 1 hour. We have been doing it for years and my daughters love playing with flashlights and making up games to play since there is no TV either. |

| http://www.pictureshowent.com/locations/bloomingdale-location This place shows movies not currently released yet not on video yet for very reasonable prices. $1 Tuesday and $1.75 on Thursday as an example. They are very reasonable and it's a lot of fun for a lot less money. |
