After teaching creative writing in the CPS system, BOM’s ensemble of actors, comedians, musicians and playwrights selects and adapts some of the thousands of stories generated by children for stage presentation. The result has been an audience favorite—a show that is “safe” for all ages, yet very much appreciated by an adult audience. “That’s Weird, Grandma” changes each week according to audience votes (switching one to three sketches each performance), and each show runs about one hour. The show started in April 2001, and has produced over 500 stories and musical numbers.
The performance moves to a Sunday matinee beginning March 11, 2012. On April 23, 2012, the Monday night performances resume.

This play has been running a long time and the best part is, it keeps changing. You can go more than once and it is never the same. Highly recommended. Lots of fun and laughs.
Barrel of Monkeys presented "That's Weird, Grandma" at our church last winter, and adults and kids alike were enthralled. We laughed and had a wonderful time. It's amazing how these young actors can create a whole new mood and setting with just a few props. And how wonderful that they support the Chicago Public School students this way, turning their creative writings into plays. I highly recommend you see this performance - you won't be disappointed.
