I have to preface this review by saying that prior to this incident I had eaten here several times without incident. I love the decor and warm, trendy feel of the restaurant. However, recently I was eating here with my mom and my kids. Both kids ate cheese pizza from the kid's menu. My son finished all of his and my daughter had about 1/4 left. She turned it over and it was COVERED in mold. Horrible. The server was great, very apologetic. A female manager was sent over and basically gave me a speech about how everything was fresh, blah, blah. My kids had just eaten mold! She offered to comp the kid's meals only. I was livid. On our way out a nice male manager stopped me, comped the entire bill and called me the next day to make sure by kids were not ill. He also checked with the kitchen staff and they admitted they had not checked the crust before it went out. I was satified with this, but he insisted on sending me some coupons for future use and took my address, etc. They never showed up and I haven't returned since.
I've been here several times for lunch with friends and once with a social club for drinks, and was very impressed with the food and service each time. Today I took my family for the first time, and it was a great experience. The food and service was great as usual. My daughters loved the placemats and crayons, and played hangman throughout the whole meal. They did not love the pizzas they ordered (too much sauce for their tases), and our waiter was wonderful and exchanged it for something else, no questions asked. The manager then came out and said he was sorry the girls didn't like the pizza, and could not have been nicer. We enjoyed the smores fondue for dessert - YUM! We are so happy to have a restaurant of Houlihan's quality and service orientation in Park Ridge. We'll definitely be back.
Love this place! Wonderful to see that the singles/happy hour crowd can coexist with families with children in a hip dining atmosphere. I brought my 1 and 7 year-olds to dinner here on Friday night along with my husband and mother-in-law. I couldn't have been happier with the friendly service and the fact that I can have a martini and upscale entree while my kids have corndogs and fries!
My husband and I went here for cocktails and appetizers. It was a fun, friendly atmosphere. It has a family friendly feel to it. Many families were dining there at the time. The waitstaff could not have been nicer either.
I went here with my girlfriends. We all enjoyed our meals and loved the modern look of this new restaurant. My girlfriends did not like the dessert they ordered. So, they brought them out something else for them. Great customer service. I can not wait to go here with my husband and daughter for a nice evening out as a family.
Houlihans in Park Ridge turned out to be a great place to take my son when we wanted a grown-up dinner without getting a sitter. The restaurant does not look family friendly from the outside, but there were a lot of kids dining here and everyone seemed to be happy! The food is pretty good and they have a lot of specials.
