We've had the Italian ice here several times over the last few years and have always enjoyed it. I attended a private event here last week, and learned much more about this business. The owners (both moms) spend countless hours researching flavors and trying recipes until they get it just right. Their apple pie ice cream (which is delicious, btw!), for example, has real apple pie in it - and they sampled and sampled pies until they found the one they liked best. Go in and try their citrus blast sorbet - it is DELICIOUS! It's a blend of grapefruit, blood oranges, lime and (I think) lemon. YUM! And don't be shy about asking for samples before you make your buy decision - they're happy to let you taste!
We just had this last night. There homemade italian ice is the best. It is so refreshing and a nice treat on the summer day. They just added ice cream this year. But, I like the italian ice better because it is unique and heathlier...right? They do close around Oct for the season. So go before then and try it out. You will not be disappointed.
We went into Lisa's this year and found something new and amazing. Not only does she have the fabulous ice that she makes by hand from fresh fruit, she now makes homemade ice cream. It is the best ice cream I have EVER had. I get the guilt free italian ice and the kids get the ice cream - but I of course sample it.
Was walking in uptown and noticed the It's Italian Ice sign hanging from the window. Happy I stopped in. The Italian Ice is great with many favors. They let me sample about 6 before I picked which was really nice. Was able to have 3 diff. flavors in one cup. My kids loved the ice cream. It is homemade and much better then others that we get. We will be back this summer.
