Living Sea Aquarium has been supplying Chicagoland with fish for almost 20 years (15 years in our current location) and currently is one of the largest aquarium stores, specializing in freshwater, salt water and reef aquariums.
I love taking my 3-year-old here. It's easier if you're not trying to chase multiple kids at once, though. The staff is very nice, and it's a great place to buy fish supplies. It's not huge, but it's perfect for a short little outing with kids.
Such a great place when you just need to get out of the house for a quick and easy outing. My kids have been stopping in for years, and are still always thrilled to see the sting rays! They can look at the other fish for a long time as well - great way to kill and hour or so!

Gorgeous fish! The staff is VERY knowledgeable and helpful. They have a new kind of fighting fish that is just beautiful. We always bring in a sample of our tank water so they can test it to make sure our water is good.
This store has been in business forever. This is a great place to bring your kids to see stingrays getting fed or to take a look at other salt water fish like puffers and sharks. This is totally FREE. If you have never been, it is worth a trip. I have a friend who travels just to take her kids to this store.
We lucked out one morning and happened to pop in when they were doing feedings of the sting ray, so we were able to get our hands wet a bit!!! We were not in the market to buy, but this store would be a strong contender--nice
The kids love going in and seeing all the fish. The people are so nice and really know their stuff. The day after Thanksgiving, I believe it's the owner that dresses up as Santa Claus. They take a picture with the kids and put it in a greeting card all for free! Very cute!
My kids love going to the "fish" store. We don't have any fish but we like to window shop. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Stingray/shark feedings can be seen M-F at 2pm and 7pm and on Sat and Sun at 2pm.
We love dropping in here. They're open 7 days a week and there's always new things to see. So many different fish, turtles, aquatic animals. Last time we were there they had a shark egg that was going to hatch soon! Sometimes, in the evening, they let my daughter feed the koi out of her hand (she's only 3) ! She says it tickles.
If you are in the neighborhood, great place to drop by even if you don't have fish at home. They have stingrays and they have feedings every day that you can watch. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's a nice time for the kids to look around at all the diffrent type of fish, sharks and other waterlife creatures. Fun time to look around.
I buy there fish supplies for my Betta, but that's just an excuse to go there and just observe the variety of marine life. I love the shark, the stingrays, the puffer fish. And the green eel - that eel gives me heebie-jeebies. There's some lizards and froggies and turtles and koi pond. And a lot of colorful fish, the colors so vibrant, make you appreciate the Mother Nature.
This is a store and an adventure. There is so much to see. Plus you can see them feed the sharks, and cna help feed the stingrays. My kids love a trip to Living Sea.
This is a fantastic place to bring your child. They will delight in seeing all of the brightly colored fish, the shark tank, the eels, and the rays. Time your visit so you can see (or even participate in) the stingray and/or shark feedings, which occur at 2:00 pm everyday.
