tjkania's Profile

I am a special education teacher @ a middle school in Plainfield. This will be my 12th year teaching students with behavior & learning disorders. My own son has a learning disability - so there are some days I feel like I am at work all day :) My husband is currently unemployed - At one time we owned a concrete & excavating company. Not alot of houses being built. My son loves fishing - He fishes for about 4 hours a day. When he is not fishing, he is swimming or playing baseball. My daughter loves riding her bike or playing school. We have referred to kidwinks all summer looking for new things to do. I have referred many friends to the site.

Win an Overnight Package at Hilton Indian Lakes Resort 8/10/2010
A family getaway would be fantastic! The summer has been slim due to the economy. This would be a fantastic way to end the summer before I go back to work (school) and our kids start school.
Sales Tax Holiday on Back To School Items 8/10/2010
At this point, anything helps!
Splash Country Water Park 8/10/2010
Perfect for the whole family. The Lazy River is small enough for our 9 yr,. old to go on alone. The sprinkler park is a lot of fun for both kids. Never crazy crowded - Clean!
Phillips Park Aquatic Center 8/10/2010
Always clean. It offers a lot for the family. The sprinkler park is nice - Concessions were too much $$ and you can't bring your own food.
Raging Waves in Yorkville, IL 8/10/2010
The Dells brought to Yorkville. A great deal if you are a resident of Yorkville or Bristol - you can't beat the season pass. I have a hard time paying the daily rate for non-resident. There is not a pool just to swim. The Lazy River rocks! Raging waves is always clean - Plenty of staff- We have enjoyed our time when we have gone in the past.
Naperville Riverwalk 8/10/2010
Grab a starbucks and head to the Riverwalk. We feed the ducks and the kids run up & down the sled hill. You can pack a nice lunch to eat under a big tree or you can purchase food in the little food stand (a bit pricey). The playground is usually packed. The teenagers invade the riverwalk at night - so we always go earlier in the day.
Larson's Christmas Tree Farm 8/10/2010
We have been cutting down our Christmas Tree and picking our pumpkins from Larson's Farm for over ten years. We have watched their kids grow up and take on new responsibilities each year. We have great memories of cutting down our tree as a couple & now a family. Always something to look forward to! Worth the ride!
Hesston Steam Museum 8/10/2010
As parents, we thought it was great. Our older son was "bored" our younger daughter was not pleased with the small train and felt like she was going to fall out. Again, another quick venue that you can spend an hour and call it a day.
Chuck E Cheese's 8/10/2010
We visited the Chuckie Cheese in Joliet and was very pleased to see new games! More rides for the kids and several stations that take the kids pictures. The ticket trade out is ridiculous - The resturant was very clean - Pizza was brought out quickly. Can't beat the coupons offered. A good rainy day activity!
Cosley Zoo 8/10/2010
It's a the perfect size for a quick zoo visit. You can bring food and eat in the picnic area. It's an activity that will only take about 1 hour. The zoo is always very clean. It's worth a once a summer visit.
Donley's Wild West Town 8/10/2010
Donley's was pricey to get in. The pony rides were a hit with my daughter & neice. My 2 kids would not get off the hand cars - I think they went about 10 times. Panning for gold was a bit gross - water sitting in there with a million people putting their hands in it. The train ride was nice & gave us a chance to take it all in. The employees definately play their roles well. My kids talk about going back all the time.
